Coming to the "States" can sometimes be a strange and challenging experience. Our desire is to assist students and their families in small ways to hopefully make their stay easier, more enjoyable and enriched.

"Discover America" Cultural and social events throughout the year that are designed to allow students, their families and friends the opportunity to meet other students and Americans, and to learn something about American culture. Events include activities such as sightseeing tours, cultural and social events, and observing religious celebrations. Come experience something more than textbooks and "four square walls." (It makes for better letters when writing back home.)

"Conversational English Classes for Women." Held September through May on Thursday mornings. These classes seek to provide an opportunity for conversational English as well as practical help in adapting to life in the "States" and learning more about US cultural. Child care also provided.

"Garage Give Away" This once a year event is planned each August primarily for Colorado School of Mines students. It offers used household items (from large furniture to small appliances) free of charge to students and their families. Free transportation of large furniture items is also provided to student's homes within a certain area.

For information or details about any of the above events, please call Terry or Trudy at 303 279-0165 or email
